Switching from PrestaShop
Redesign your PrestaShop website with Webese
PrestaShop handles a big catalogue and its orders reliably; the theme in front of it is usually what feels dated. Keep PrestaShop as the engine and give it a new front end on Webese — your products stay exactly where they are.
Signs it's time for a redesign
The theme looks its age, and a redesign quote means a developer, a new theme and a risky upgrade.
Your catalogue is too large to move to another platform without weeks of work and lost orders.
Editing the homepage means modules and theme settings instead of just changing what it says.
The shop works for people who already know you, but the pages around it don't win over new visitors.
What changes when you switch
| Aspect | On PrestaShop today | After switching to Webese |
|---|---|---|
| How the site's copy was written | A theme's default sections and module blocks, filled in over the years. | Generated from your actual positioning — audience, outcome, and what makes you different. |
| Editing after launch | PrestaShop's back office, theme settings and modules, often with a developer involved. | Click any text, image, or graphic directly on the page to change it in place. |
| Your products | Managed in PrestaShop's catalogue. | Still managed there — Webese shows them on your new site at the prices shoppers see, synced daily. |
| Payments, shipping & orders | Handled by PrestaShop and its payment modules. | Unchanged. Buy opens the product in your PrestaShop shop, where checkout, carriers, tax and order emails work as they do now. |
How switching works
- 1
Tell Webese about your business
The same conversation every Webese site starts from — your audience, offer, and what makes you different — whether or not you're bringing an existing store across.
- 2
Bring your existing content across
The Switch Wizard reads your current PrestaShop site and brings across its brand colors, its real copy, the way it sounds, and a handful of its real photos — copied to Webese's own storage so they keep working after the old site comes down.
- 3
Create a read-only Webservice key
In your PrestaShop back office, open Advanced Parameters → Webservice, turn the webservice on, and add a key with only View (GET) ticked for products, categories and currencies.
- 4
Connect your shop
On your Webese dashboard, enter your shop's address and paste the key — it's stored encrypted. Add your back-office address too, so Manage products takes you straight there.
- 5
Drop products into your pages
In the editor, Add products places a grid of your newest products, one category, or products you pick. Category and newest grids fill themselves as you add products in PrestaShop.
- 6
Point your domain at Webese
Keep the domain you already own. If PrestaShop runs on that same domain today, move the shop to a subdomain such as shop.yourbusiness.com first, update its address on your dashboard, then point your main domain at Webese.
Bring your content across
The Switch Wizard reads your current PrestaShop site and brings across its real brand colors, copy, tone of voice and a handful of real photos as the starting material for the new design. Your products don't need importing: connect the shop with a read-only Webservice key and they're shown live from PrestaShop.
Keep your store
Your PrestaShop shop stays the engine
Connect it on your dashboard with a read-only Webservice key, stored encrypted, and drop its products into any page with Add products. Buy opens each product in your shop, where checkout works exactly as it does today.
Keep the engine, replace the front end
A PrestaShop shop that's been trading for years carries a lot: thousands of products, combinations, carriers, tax rules, payment modules, customer accounts. Moving all of that to another platform is where most redesigns turn into months-long projects.
Webese leaves it in place. PrestaShop keeps running the catalogue and every order; Webese becomes the site people land on, reading your products through PrestaShop's own Webservice and sending each purchase back to your shop.
What actually changes when you switch
The pages around the shop — homepage, story, product highlights — are generated from your positioning and edited by clicking on them, with no theme to buy and no developer needed for a copy change.
Prices are read the way shoppers see them, with tax and discounts applied, and refresh every day or straight away with Sync now. New products show up in category and newest grids by themselves.
Questions about switching from PrestaShop
Do I have to import my products?+
No. Webese reads them from PrestaShop on every sync — up to 20,000 products per shop — so nothing is copied by hand and nothing goes out of date. PrestaShop stays the place you manage them.
What access does Webese need?+
A Webservice key with View (GET) permission on products, categories and currencies — nothing that can change your shop. The key is stored encrypted, and you can delete it in PrestaShop at any time.
Where do customers pay?+
In your PrestaShop shop. Buy opens the product there, so combinations, carriers, payment modules, tax and order emails all work exactly as they do today.
Which prices are shown?+
The prices a shopper sees in your shop, with tax and any discounts applied, in your shop's default currency. They refresh on every sync.
Will I lose my domain if I switch?+
No. You keep whatever domain you already own — Webese shows you the exact DNS record to add for a one-time $24 fee, and handles verification and SSL. If PrestaShop shares that domain today, move the shop to a subdomain first so it keeps running alongside the new site.
Is it free to try?+
Yes — building, editing, connecting your shop and sharing a live preview link are free for everyone, so you can see your products in the new design before deciding anything. Publishing it to your own domain is what a paid plan unlocks.
